Who doesn't like tassels? Simple to make and always look great. I was so happy with how my Mint Leather Tassel Earrings came out made some more for a handbag charm.
Looking at the photo below I do like red nail varnish!
The handbag charm is easy to pick up off eBay or a local bead shop. Again I used large cord ends used to finish off Kumihimo bracelets and necklaces to give the tassels a nice finish.

Mixtape Monday | Beirut
I thought I would do something a little different today for my mixtape and focus on one particular artist I like. Beirut is one of my favourite bands.
I first heard the first album Gulag Orkenstar in 2006 and it was love at first listen.
Since then there have been several more releases, the albums The Flying Club Cup and The Rip Tide and the double EP March of the Zapotec/Holland.
Each album has a different feel yet retains the unique sound of the band. The Flying Club Cup has a more Gaelic sound and is more upbeat than the first. March of the Zapotec was recorded in Oaxaca, Mexico, with a local 19 piece brass band while Holland employs a synth-pop sound The Rip Tide was the lastest release and is a bit more restrained. Less brass than before and a bit more piano.
Today's mixtape is a small selection of songs from all of these releases. Have a listen and tell me what you think.

Things That Are Making Me Happy | May
It has been a good month apart from the cold weather. These are some of my highlights.
1. Nice emails! - I got a lovely email last week from a woman in America who liked my leather tassel earrings and asked me to make her a pair. It's always nice to hear positive comments about my jewellery. I posted them off to the USA and they arrived safely a few days ago.She emailed me a couple of days ago to say she loves them so I am very happy!
2. The Magic Notebook - I stumbled across an online shop called the Magic Notebook specialising in gorgeous stationery. Who doesn't love pretty notebooks and washi tape? I got this lovely little notebook with a pretty pale blue pattern cover, stickers, pencils and a pen.
My favourite thing though is this washi tape. Look! Isn't it amazing. There is also a flora version (this is the fauna one) but it was sold out...which is probably better for my bank balance!
3. Crafting Groups - I have just started going to a crafting group in another village close by. It is always nice to meet up with other crafters and learn some new skills. Check out Mrs Crafty B's blog information on the group and other craft based goings on.
4. Sketching - I've been working a lot on my sketching. I am keen to improve my technique and the only way to do this is to practice. I was inspired by a quote I heard by Comedian Steve Martin. He was talking about the difficulty of learning to play the banjo and said that he thought to himself that if he kept practicing, then one day he'll have been doing it for 10 years. I can't remember the exact wording but as long as I stick at it my technique will improve. My son is taking an interest in drawing and painting so this is a nice activity that the 2 of us can do together. I let him loose with my watercolour paints the other day and I can tell you it washes off the kitchen table nicely. I have a large number of colourful splodgy pictures which I will be keeping though I have decided he wasn't ready for oil paint just yet.
Maybe I'll share some of my sketches soon...

How To | Bead Hair Tie
Finally my hair is getting longer and I decided to start making some hair accessorises. I can get my hair into a pony tail and almost into a bun. I am just on that awful in-between stage. I must remain strong and not get my hair cut short again.
This is a good little project to use up left over beads and even odd buttons.
I have started using some hook hair ties to add beads on to. They are easier to position the beads in your hair than using a conventional hair bands that you have twist around and pull the beads through.

Mixtape Monday | Your Life Your Call
How is everyone this Monday? What happened to the weather? I've got my jumpers out again. I'm sat huddled on the sofa in a big cardigan while I write this. I really want it to warm up as we are going on holiday next week and it would be great to be able to sit on the beach. We are going to Dorset for a few days which is where my Mum's family are from. I used to spend all my childhood school holidays there so I am really looking forward to taking my own children.
I am planning a little change around with posting days. I have a bit more time on a Tuesday to write tutorial posts so these are going to start appearing on a Wednesday so come back then to see what I've been making.
Anyway here is today's playlist. As always I would love to hear you music recommendations so if you have heard anything interesting please tell me!
